  6.    RELIABILITY PREDICTOR's database contains failure rate data for
  7.    component types in each of 3 operating environments :

  10.       GROUND BENIGN
  11.  
  12.    Ambient temperature range of 0 to 50 degrees Celsius with no vibration
  13.    This corresponds to the environment experienced by the majority of
  14.    commercial products.

  21.       GROUND FIXED
  22.  
  23.    Similar to Ground Benign but with an extended temperature range of
  24.    -20 to +70 degrees Celsius. This environment is typical of that
  25.    experienced by products intended for industrial applications.

  28.       GROUND MOBILE
  29.  
  30.    This is the most severe environment with a temperature range of
  31.    -50 to +125 degrees Celsius. The product is also assumed to be in a
  32.    mobile application e.g. automotive and therefore regularly subjected
  33.    to vibration in operation.

  37.    RELIABILITY PREDICTOR calculates overall failure rates depending upon
  38.    the quality level of components used. The default component quality is
  39.    selected from one of three types :

  42.       COMMERCIAL QUALITY

  44.    This quality level is appropriate to components purchased to normal
  45.    commercial standards where no special screening is applied. In general
  46.    it will apply to all devices housed in plastic packages. It is
  47.    equivalent to quality level D-1 as defined by MIL-HDBK-217E.

  49.       INDUSTRIAL QUALITY
  50.  
  51.    This quality level is more appropriate to components required to
  52.    operate in industrial environments (e.g. Ground Fixed). Components
  53.    in this category are usualy supplied in hermetic packages. It is
  54.    equivalent to quality level D as defined in MIL-HDBK-217E.

  61.       MILITARY QUALITY

  63.    This quality level corresponds to components which meet the
  64.    requirements of paragraph 1.2.1 in MIL-STD-883 and is defined as
  65.    quality level B-1 in MIL-HDBK-217E.

  69.   The default setting can be over-ridden for an individual component type.
